Dried Rose Buds

Uses for Dried Rose Buds

Dried rose buds can be used in a variety of projects, but what many do not realize is how easy it is to dry the buds yourself and save money over buying already dried flowers.

Dried flowers have a certain charm and, for some uses, are often preferred over fresh flowers. These flowers can, however, be expensive. Keep in mind that you are paying not only for the flowers, but also for the time it took to dry them properly.

To save money, you could buy fresh rosebuds from a wholesaler and dry them at home. For most uses, the most simple of drying methods will work. Simply hang the stems upside down in a dark and cool closet. After a couple of weeks, the flowers will be dried and ready for use.

Whether you choose to do it yourself or buy dried rose buds, below are some great ideas for how to use these beautiful flowers.

Sachets

You could buy sachets from your favorite lingerie store, but if you have priced them recently then you know they can cost up to $10 each. Using dried rose buds to create your own sachets is much less expensive.

In addition to the dried rose buds you will need some ribbon and some tulle, cut into large squares. Break up some of the dried rose buds and place in the center of a tulle square. Then gather up the corners and tie off with ribbon.

If you add some embellishment for decoration, these handmade sachets make wonderful gifts.

Bouquets

More brides are choosing to use dried flowers, including dried rose buds, in their bouquets. One reason is that the brides want to be able to keep their bouquet and using dried flowers allows them to do this.

As mentioned above, dried flowers can cost a bit more than fresh, so if you are on a tight budget, you might want to have the bride’s bouquet created with dried flowers while using fresh flowers for the rest of the wedding party’s bouquets.

Arrangements

A lot of people would love to be able to keep vases in every room full of fresh flowers. For many, however, the cost and time involved with doing so can be prohibitive. A good alternative is choosing to use dried rose buds and other dried flowers to create your arrangements.

With proper care, these dried arrangements can last quite a long time. You can buy the dried flowers at a local crafts store and use them to create arrangements for every room in your house.

Be sure to purchase a spray that is meant to clean and condition your dried flowers. This will extend the life of the arrangements and keep them looking their best.

Potpourri

Another good use for dried flowers is in homemade potpourri. Use a variety of ingredients such as spices, dried flowers and dehydrated fruit. Experiment until you find scents that you like best.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to use dried rose buds and other flowers. Be creative and you will likely find even more ways to use these long lasting buds.
